Each season is fleeting; the warm summer months climbing into existence as quickly as she fades away into the autumn breeze. I blink and years have flown by..people die, people are born. The sun continues to shine and the moon continues to glow. A mesmerizing dance in the heavens happening every moment of every day.
To plant a seed is to believe in tomorrow. Gardening is no easy task — it requires discipline, vigilance, patience, and a bit of a green thumb.
I’ve been in the horticulture business since I was 20 years old. Next month I’ll be 32. Each year provides new growing conditions, challenges, a whole lot of mistakes, and even more inner growth and knowledge attained.
Gardening can be an escape, a relief from life’s pressures and responsibilities; but it can also become a daunting responsibility on its own. Going through postpartum anxiety and depression definitely brought that view into my mind..but it also helped me appreciate the work that goes into the garden even more.
There’s no doubt flowers can be breathtakingly beautiful. Beauty, however, is in the eye of the beholder. Someone may look at a Dahlia’s bloom and become emotional from the petals perfect geometrical pattern. Another may gaze upon her and believe wholeheartedly that the simplicity of a Daisy outshines that Dahlia. Neither is wrong, just living their own truth.
Those same people may change their mind about that seemingly strong opinion down the road..and that is okay. Life is too short to judge one another for the way they view the world. Let’s place appreciation and value on everyone’s opinion and instead celebrate the diversity of this world. It is a blessing to be able to gaze upon a garden in your own yard or someone else’s and appreciate the view 💚
