Yoga practice to help with sleep.

If you are feeling restless, anxious, or otherwise unable to go to sleep then this yoga practice might help. I recommend reading the directions first then try it out for yourself!

Lay down on your back. Extend your legs. Relax your arms beside you. Close your eyes.

Inhale deeply. Exhale completely.

Really focus on the sensation of the breath; the way that it travels through your nose and throughout your body.

Continue to inhale deeply and exhale completely through your nose.

Inhale and exhale.

Inhale and exhale.

Inhale and exhale.

Inhale and exhale.

Inhale and exhale.

Slowly scan your body and tune into whatever is going on with it.

Embrace it, and breathe through it.

Notice in your body if you are holding onto any tension or tightness and use your exhale to release and relax into that space.

Scan your body as many times as you need and practice that relaxing and releasing intention before you feel completely relaxed and at ease.

Bring your awareness back to the breath completely.

Inhale and exhale.

Inhale and exhale.

Inhale and exhale.

Inhale and exhale.

Focus on your breath with your complete awareness.

Transitioning to 4-7-8 breathing technique

Inhale for 4 seconds. Hold your breath for 7 seconds. Exhale for 8 seconds. Repeat this pattern for as long as needed. I recommend 10 rounds based off of personal experience.
